SNAP Food Drive Nears End as Supplies Dwindle Amid Surging Demand

DAYTONA BEACH, FL — Organizers of the SNAP Food Drive issued an urgent update Sunday afternoon as the event nears its conclusion due to overwhelming demand. With fewer than 500 bags of food remaining, volunteers have begun limiting distribution to one bag per vehicle in an effort to stretch the remaining supply as far as possible.

Despite a massive turnout of donations and community support, the need has far exceeded expectations. Cars have lined up throughout the day, with families from across Volusia County arriving in hopes of receiving essential groceries. Volunteers have worked tirelessly to keep the operation running smoothly, but the sheer volume of recipients has pushed the drive to its limits.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity we’ve seen,” said one volunteer. “But it’s clear that the need in our community is greater than what a single food drive can meet.”

Organizers are urging donors to continue supporting local food banks beyond today’s event. While the SNAP Food Drive has helped hundreds of families, the demand for food assistance remains high, especially as the holiday season approaches and economic pressures persist.

The drive is expected to shut down very soon, and those still in need are encouraged to seek help from established food pantries and community organizations. Volunteers thanked the public for their patience and compassion, emphasizing that every donation—no matter how small—makes a difference.

For those looking to contribute, local food banks such as Halifax Urban Ministries, Second Harvest Food Bank, and neighborhood churches continue to accept donations and provide support to families in need.
