Volusia County, FL — For seven years, Dream Green Volusia has been fighting for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future in the community it calls home. What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a recognized not-for-profit organization dedicated to tackling some of the county’s most pressing environmental challenges.

Founded as a community outreach initiative in January 2019, Dream Green Volusia officially filed for not-for-profit status in February 2021. Since then, the group has become a driving force in local advocacy, education, and hands-on projects aimed at protecting Volusia’s natural resources.

Mission and Impact

“Our mission is to engage and empower the Volusia County community through education, advocacy, and environmental projects,” the organization states. “We want to create a sustainable and more eco-friendly future for our county.”

Dream Green Volusia’s work spans several critical areas:

  • ๐ŸŒŠ Flooding Solutions — Developing community-based strategies to mitigate rising water risks, particularly in neighborhoods vulnerable to storm surges and heavy rainfall.

  • ๐Ÿ’ง Water Quality — Advocating for cleaner waterways, monitoring pollution threats, and educating residents about the importance of protecting aquifers and springs.

  • ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Litter and Plastics — Organizing cleanups, school programs, and campaigns to reduce single-use plastics, while encouraging businesses to adopt greener practices.

  • ๐ŸŒณ Land Conservation — Promoting responsible growth, protecting natural habitats, and working with local leaders to preserve green spaces for future generations.

Through workshops, community events, and partnerships with schools and civic groups, Dream Green Volusia has built a reputation as both an educator and an advocate. Its volunteers are often seen at shoreline cleanups, public forums, and conservation projects, embodying the group’s belief that small actions can lead to big change.

A Non-Partisan Cause

The group emphasizes that environmental protection is not a political issue. “Clean water is a non-partisan issue,” leaders note, underscoring their commitment to inclusivity and community collaboration. To maintain a respectful dialogue, the group’s administrator filters out posts containing profanity or disparaging remarks, ensuring the focus remains on solutions and shared responsibility.

This approach has helped Dream Green Volusia foster a welcoming environment where residents from all walks of life can contribute ideas and energy toward shared goals.

Looking Ahead

As Dream Green Volusia celebrates seven years of service, its volunteers and advocates remain energized. With flooding, pollution, and conservation challenges continuing to affect the region, the organization is determined to expand its outreach and strengthen partnerships across the county.

Future plans include:

  • Expanding educational programs in schools to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

  • Collaborating with local governments on sustainable infrastructure projects.

  • Launching new initiatives to address plastic pollution and promote recycling innovation.

“Dream Green Volusia is proof that grassroots action can make a real difference,” said one supporter. “It’s about neighbors coming together to protect the place we all call home.”

Dream Green Volusia’s story is one of persistence, community spirit, and a vision for a healthier Volusia County. As the group looks toward the future, its message remains clear: protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility, and together, lasting change is possible.
